It is only when you turn insane that you realize the whole world is worth living

Insanity and passion are synonymous. When passion reaches a crescendo, it turns into insanity. When your whole world revolves around achieving that goal, you cant decide whether you are passionate or insane. It is only when you live each moment of your life like its your last, you really live life.
If your hobby is playing guitar, wouldn’t it be nice if doing everything gave you the pleasure that you get when you play guitar? Why doesn’t playing guitar seem like a work? Because you do it passionately, you derive pleasure from it. When Sachin Tendulkar goes out to the field, does he feel like it’s a burden, no. Because cricket is not just his livelihood, its his passion. And when your work stirs you up, life itself starts seeming wonderful.
Insanity can also refer to going outside of your boundaries, doing the unorthodox. When Copernicus said that Sun is the one around which earth revolves, people called him insane. Had he listened to them and taken back his theory would I have been writing about him now? No. It is only because he believed himself when everyone around him criticized him that he is now famous. Even centuries after he has gone, we still remember him. People like him never die, they are immortalized.
Insane are those who dare to venture out from the safety of their homes. It is their insanity which gives them the courage to go where no one ever has. It was only Neil Armstrong’s strong will which motivated him to undertake the risk and travel to the moon.  It was Tenjing Norway’s insanity that propelled him to the top of the mount Everest. They are the people who have lived their life fully. They live on the edge, because that is where real life exists.
But it is very important to understand that insanity does not mean we shut down the logical side of our brain. Insanity in this context refers to breaking boundaries of our own thinking in a positive way. The culprits of the delhi gang rape were not insane, they were fools. They make the world not worth living even for others leave aside themselves. People like them are insane in the sense that they have lost their rational thinking power.
In the end, being passionate makes our world seems more welcoming and beautiful. It makes us look forward to the coming day. So be passionate to extent of being insane but remember where insanity ends and foolishness begins

Life is game for the fools, comedy for the rich, dream for the wise and tragedy for the poor

Life is a mystery, life is a journey and life is a roller coaster ride. How we view life reflects our own perspectives and mind set. Life is a gamble, you tread carefully and you risk losing out on the adventures on the way, you take uncalculated risks and you might just lose it all. Lets delve into the different meanings of life for different people.

Fools are those who donot realize what is at stake. Addicts gamble away their lives for some instant gratification. People like A Raja, well to do educated people, put at stake their everything for some crores in the 2g scam and lose it. The people accused in the delhi gang rape not only destroyed their own lives in that moment, they also destroyed that poor girl’s life. Is life such a small thing? These people assumed life to be a game, they just forgot one little detail; you play such a dangerous game and more often than not you lose.

Rich are those for whom everything is easy. When one doesn’t have to struggle for anything, life starts seeming like a comedy. They stay so high up in their glass towers that the reality of life doesn’t catch up with them. Sadly many of our politicians fall in this category. Rahul Gandhi is a prime example. The fact that he has not been able to accomplish anything on his own is partially attributable to his skills and partially to the fact that he is not in touch with the real problems of India’s common man. To people like him starvation, unemployment, rising prices are just some terms they read in the books and laugh at it because they cant believe it really happens.

Wise are those who plan their life, who treat it as a precious resource which shouldn’t be wasted. For these people life is a dream they have seen and they have the motivation to turn that dream into reality and with their dreams also bring to life other’s dreams. Anand Kumar, founder of the Super 30 program in Patna is a case in example. By providing free education to the poor students, he is not only giving them a chance he is also inspiring our generation. Arvind Kejriwal, his life is a dream for many who wish to serve their country and he is trying to bring back the India of our dreams.

Poor are those who cant feed their children two meals a day, poor are those who watch their loved ones die because they cannot afford medical treatment. For people like them, what is life if not a tragedy. Farmers in the Vidharba region, is it not tragic that farmers who feed the entire country are themselves in such a poor state that they have to resort to suicides?

From where we stand we build our own view of life which is narrow and most of the time meaningless. We have to widen our perspectives and live life such that this gift of God does not go waste. Everyone makes a difference to their own life by their actions, go a step ahead, bring a smile on someone else’s face for a change.

सच्चाई का आइना

Reading about the recent gangrape case in delhi, I have lost all faith in our bureaucratic system. Its time we, the women stood up for ourselves and took steps to make our country safe for us. Lost in contemplation I penned down a few lines, dedicated to that unfortunate girl....

Well its been days since I wrote something here….not that I was busy ,just that I wasn’t getting anything to write on. And then I realized how fast time changes, one day I literally have to choose from a myriad of topics and the next day I have nothing to write on. Sadly, this is applicable to all parts of our life. One day you are best friends and the next day you don’t even acknowledge the prescence of that person. This is something over which you have no control. Sometimes the circumstances are such that how much ever you want to set things straight, you just can’t. How much ever you feel that things are in your control, they are not and the reality is painful. In life you meet people with whom you share your deepest secrets and beliefs, and if you don’t get the trust of those people , it hurts, it hurts bad. People say that love is great, to those people I say, friendship is greater. Friends are people with whom you share moments of life, moments that will be cherished forever, and if friends leave you , the soul loses something, the pain and fire melt you from inside. You can face the worst days of your life with your close ones, but if these same people leave you , you have no one to share the pain with. An empty void is what is left in your life, with nobody to fill it with happiness and hope. When loneliness and sadness become your companion, material benefits don’t even figure in your life. But as they say, the show must go on. So how much ever melancholy your life might seem, you have to move ahead and give life another chance. Life is all about learning. Take this as a lesson of your life. Feel the positive vibrations around you. Soak into them, let them energise you and welcome the new you. Do what you like, make yourself the most important person in your life for a change. Pamper yourself. Let the warmth of hope make the draught of despair disappear. The blessedness of life will become apparent only if you have faced the rough times. So, make this thought your mantra and you will never have to curse your life  

P.S : dis is my first attempt at philosophy. do tell hwz it :) :)

Truth about Evil

I have been a bit confused lately. Last week I read the first two books of the Shiva Trilogy, Immortals of Meluha and Secret of the Nagas. First of all , excellent books, perhaps the best I have read since Harry Potter, do read. In the book Lord Shiva has come to destroy the evil, quite simple for the Mahadev except for one little detail, he does not know what is evil. His definition keeps changing with the people around him. This whole thing was causing a bit of a turbulence in my head and what really hit the nail hard was when we were asked in my class to classify some qualities into virtue and vice and I realized that the definition of virtue and vice varies a lot from person to person. So how does one decide? How does one define evil? And more importantly how does one know which of the many definitions of evil is true. Evil is anything that we believe is wrong or immoral, but what happens when that belief itself changes. Does the concept of evil change or we ourself go over to the evil side? Is the concept of what is evil fixed and same since time immemorial or is it dynamic, changing with the changing circumstances? Ravan is considered evil but we all know that he was a great scholar, Parshuram is not considered evil even though he was violent, is it because Ravan went against Lord Ram who for us is an epitome of an ideal man and Parshuram bowed down in front of Lord Shiva. Is here our definition of evil not affected by what we consider not evil? Evil is relative. What might be evil for me might not be evil for you, so how does one say in absoluteness what is evil. How does one classify what is virtue and what is vice. I don't think there is any universal answer for all these questions, the only thing that we can do is keep our minds and hearts open. Let the changing circumstances change our beliefs if they can and most importantly not let our definitions be changed by others. There is no black and white in this world, there is only grey. So go ahead find your own shade and the truth about evil.

The notion of freedom

The vacations are on and I am at home! Totally free, having nothing to do. Strange thing is that those things which I so much adored to do when I had to study do not seem to charm me now. Whether it be watching movies, serials, 9gaging, the list does not end here, it goes on to include even something as attractive as sleeping, oh yes, I donot feel like sleeping much nowdays. Wondering if its just me or is this the case with everyone. So this brings us to what am I actually doing these past days, I do watch a movie now and then ( for those who don't know me well, I am the kind of person who watches 3-4 movies per day, so now and then, is, strange ). I have always had a thing for rom-coms and chick flicks, so I have been watching those kinds of movies a lot lately. One of those is "Chasing Liberty", I chanced to watch it on tv and found it something that most of us can relate to even though its about the US president's daughter. On the outside, its a really stupid movie but then if you see it, like me, even you might feel like been there kinds. Its about a girl chasing her freedom ( the movie title...yeah that is double meaning...one of those is these, for the other one, watch the movie ;) ). She is never allowed to be herself, do whatever she wants, roam about and enjoy life in her own way. And then suddenly I realise, isn't this the case with many of us, parental restrictions, societal restrictions, damn, there are restrictions all around us. Are we in the true sense, master of our choice? Are we really doing what we want? Do we have the freedom of thought, speech in the true sense? For a country who takes pride in saying that we have won our freedom (no disrespect to the freedom fighters in any way) , we surely have not been able to maintain that. From a simple school girl who cannot voice her opinions in front of her friends and family to a mature grown up person, who cannot voice his/her opinions for fear of society, the true freedom, the freedom of thought and speech is just an illusion that we have created to soothe our egos. But we are living in a clam shell, we are living our life by rules whereas life should be lived like a bird which can go wherever it wants without restrictions. Our life is our own, we should not live it under the shadow of some real life figure or by the unsaid rules of the vague notion of society. We make the society, the society merely shows us what the majority want, what the majority are doing, it in no sense should be the guiding map of our choices. Getting influenced by our surroundings is different, following the majority without thinking is what I am talking about here. Lets voice our opinions, bring our thoughts to the forefront, for a change do what we like to do, what we want to do. Let us for a change, let our innerself loose. Let us for a change, live life :) :) :)
